(More customer reviews)One thing that I want to make clear is that Dangerous Hunts is a hunting simulation. It is not an arcade shooter like Halo.
Only an idiot would compare this game to Halo, because they are different games. In this game, patience and strategy play an important part of getting your trophy. You can pick your equipment, from guns, to rifles, to crossbows, clothing, food rations, whistle calls, baits for luring animals and more! Picking your equipment is just part of the fun as you try to figure out what will be useful against certain targets. You can hunt a variety of animals including deers, lions, bears, coyotes, wolves, elks and more. You also have the choice to hunt in many regional map locals. The graphics look amazing and really convey that immersive feel. The sound effects are realistic and sound crisp, from the sound of gunfire, the howling of animals, the blowing of winds and your footsteps on the many ground textures. There is only music in the game menu, but once you are in the "hunt", all you hear are the ambient sound of the outdoors. It certainly works that way because you don't need music to mask the sound of a nearby target/predator approaching you (for a kill). The controls are preset a bit odd, but can be learned. The action is slow paced as you search for your target, but suddenly you'll feel sweaty as have your target in sight. There are a few game modes and they all place the targets in random locations, making the game unpredictable. Add to the low sticker price of the game and Bam! You have a winner! If you have patience to seek out your target and want to play a good hunting simulation, I highly recommend this game!

NCAA Football 2007 Review

(More customer reviews)First of all to John. EA usually uses the previous years Heisman trophy winner or one of the top players on the cover. Since Leinert stayed in school they used Desmond Howard. But if you look at the past game covers you had Carson Palmer, Larry Fitzgerald, Joey Harrington. Also do not listen to the guy complaning about the controls and camera cuts. You have the option to turn off the cameras that do the close-ups you. There are also two settings for the controllers, classic and the default.
So far I have found the game extremely enjoyable and like how it plays. Although, you can tell that EA did not put their best effort into the XBox version since the 360 is now out but it is still fun.

Far Cry Instincts Predator Review

(More customer reviews)Far Cry Instincts Predator is the XBox 360 update of two games - Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry Instincts Evolution. Neither of those XBox games will play on the 360, so it's well worth getting this new version!

You are Jack Carver, a marine who was a quiet boat captain, but ended up under attack on a remote tropical island. You're luckily very good with knives, guns and anything else you get your hands on. You're in this alone, so there's a lot of sneaking around, taking out enemies and lurking in the shadows.

On the Predator version you have to play through the first game (Far Cry Instincts) before you unlock the sequel (Far Cry Instincts Evolution) which makes sense to me, although it could prove frustrating for people who have already played Instincts and want to get right to Part 2.

The graphics are really nice on the 360 - they've definitely been updated from the original XBox version. Still, they aren't quite as stellar as some other XBox 360 releases. I suppose it's always hard porting a game up, to use the same code but make it look "nicer" without spending years doing it. Still, it looks more like XBox + instead of XBox 360. Still, it's nice to see the grasses swaying in the wind and the dappled shadows playing across the sand.

The sound is rather well done. You get the chirping of jungle birds, the hollow footsteps on planks, the crackle of radio transmission. There isn't a pounding rock soundtrack, which I really appreciate. If I'm a covert soldier creeping through vegetation, I want to be listening as hard as I can for odd noises - not having to screen out the fake music.

The game does give you objectives as you go along, but how you achieve those objectives is pretty much up to you. You can race in with guns blazing, sneak in quietly through the woods, march up the main path, or any other option you can think up. While the game is relatively short (a few days to finish) this also means that you can replay quite a bit, trying out other options and seeing what happens.

Of course, single player mode is just the beginning - it's only a training ground. Check out the incredible map editor, and go online to play your own custom maps LIVE against other skilled players 24 hours a day. It's this aspect that makes the game truly stellar, and one you could play for months without getting bored.

Perfect Dark Zero Review

(More customer reviews)Although I was worried about purchasing this game at launch (because of the bad reader reviews), I have found it an amazingly deep and complex title. I have finished this game in single player and multiplayer (online mode) and there are a few unique features you need to know about when considering this title:

1. Varying gameplay based on difficulty: When you change the difficulty setting, you are given additional side-missions which you can achieve. One example is a boat that needs to be blown up to protect one of your operatives. This is a refreshing change to the rather boring alternative of just having guys who can withstand more headshots or are using faster moving computer AI. This also makes for a more immersive game, since you feel like a real secret agent, who's being trusted with more responsibility as your skills increase.

2. Varying gameplay based in single vs. multiplayer: When I first started playing this with a friend, I was amazed to find that it is actually a different experience. Rather than just heading down the same road as the single player game, the characters actually split paths and have different objectives. For example, on one level, I was a sniper on a roof, providing cover fire for my partner while he was down below trying to complete objectives for the mission. The game actually takes longer to play co-op, and it brings a lot of extra enjoyment.

3. Co-op over Xbox Live: If you have a friend with a 360 who lives far from you, you can play the game together cooperatively. This is a very nice feature for those of us who get tired of being verbally assaulted by teenagers and completely wiped out by the pros. It also allows for a more strategic gameplay, as you can try out different manuvers and see how they work against the AI.

4. Excellent multiplayer support: The game supports all 4 Xbox 360 controllers. You can even go online with 4 players on a single 360 to really help in a team game. This is the only 360 title that I know of that makes this possible. It's great when you want to really show off the power of the 360.

All of this rolls up into a really nice title for the Xbox 360. And, now that I've played it all the way through, I would certainly recommend it for anyone who wants to get a lot of gameplay out of a FPS (First Person Shooter) game with Next-Gen graphics!

All Pro Football 2K8 Review

(More customer reviews)First off, I am not a 2K fan boy, and DEFINTELY not a Madden fanboy.Know that this is my FIRST 2K football game ever.I never got a chance to play NFL 2K5 as I was still playing Madden/NCAA 03 at the time.After being disappointed with Madden/NCAA for the 2003 release I skipped over the 04 and 05 editions, and because it was so late in the season I decided to skip NFL 2K5 as well, planning on getting NFL 2K6 the following year, but EA changed that and I was stuck with the EA football titles for the foreseeable future.I decided to give EA one last chance, and they failed again with Madden/NCAA 06.At this point I decided I was done with EASports and since they had the monopoly I figured I was done with football games for good.

Then 3 years later 2K decides to get back in the football gaming market and I was very excited, finally a choice in football gaming again and true football fans wouldn't have to be stuck with EA's monopoly.

I picked this game up recently, in fact a couple of days before I got my XBOX back from Microsoft.I was finally able to play one game last night, and I must say I am pretty impressed.

When you first start up the game, you are instantly prompted to build you own team, there are no predefined teams on this game so every team you use, you have to create them from scratch.You are allowed 2 Gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze rated former NFL players to build you team.The rest of the team is filled by generic players.You have over 240 former NFL players most of them being all-stars during their careers.Some notable names include Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Steve Young, John Elway, Reggie White, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, and Williams "Refrigerator" Perry.While you might recognize many of the names included in this years release, you will also notice some missing, some right of the top of my head are Howie Long, Michael Irvin and Jim Kelly.That is not to say the list provided is disappointing, 240 players is plenty especially considering 2K had to individually sign these players.

After you select your players and choose the generic players to fill you team, you are taken to a screen to select your city, team nickname, logo, and stadium and after your done, you then go into actually editing your teams uniforms all the way down to how many stripes the players' socks will have and the color of their shoes, helmets and face masks.You can even change the colors of the team's logo.There are tons and tons of different combinations you can choose and this can be very long and drawn out considering how much you care about how your team uniforms (home and away) look on the field, but the game already has predefined color schemes so if you just want to get to the action, you can skip this all together.If you do decide to edit your team, then just know the menu is very cumbersome and admittedly not very intuitive as it should be.In fact it took me a while to figure out how to change my team's helmet colors from white to black.

After your team is created it is saved and you are ready to go.You are then taken to the game's main screen where you can either choose to play a quick exhibition game against one of the computer created teams or go into season mode.I just wanted a quick game so I just choose a quick match in my home stadium.

The first thing you will notice about the game that these are not truly Next Gen graphics.Even in HD at best they look slightly better than HD regular XBOX games.But believe me there is much more to a game than jaw dropping graphics, and I found that out after the ball was kicked off in my very first game.As soon as the ball was kicked off I knew that this was going to be a football game like none other I have experienced before.First off the players move realistically.I hadn't noticed and robotic like movements of them running like they are trying to make it to the bathroom before they have an accident.The tackling animations are also quite more realistic than I have seen in other games.There is real gang tackling here and not anything like the "hey, I'm going to hold you, while my teammate comes and hits you" crap.There are no sled animations or seeing receivers skate to the ball either.Even the sidelines have animated players that react to plays on the field and attempt to get out of the way if they see a player out of control flying towards them.Other times, they'll step in and grab him to stop his momentum.

The game plays like football is supposed to be played.No longer can you back up 30 yards and throw 80 yard bombs all day, because chances are you will be sacked or more often than not your pass will be knocked down if you're lucky.Your linemen block who they are supposed to block and don't miss an obvious block just so they can go block a free safety 15 yards away who is not even in the play to begin with.On the defensive end of the ball players react well to both the run and pass.Don't expect 20+ yard runs on every single possession, if you do manage to get a long gain you better believe the D will adjust incase you try that crap on the very next play.In the running game you have WORK for your yardage, you have to find the hole and hit it hard.If you just dance around in the back field you WILL get your bell rung.Take a hole and go for it.Passing is also quite realistic and very rewarding when you complete a long pass play on 3rd and long.The defense reacts pretty well to the ball and will knock it down if they can't quite get two hands on it.If you throw in double coverage too often you will pay for it, if your throw is too late or too early the D will knock it down.As good as the AI is on both sides of the ball, I never got the feeling that it was "cheating" like other games I have played in the past.I remember in the said game, I would be running for a first down, clearly beating the defender and all of a sudden he makes a dive for me at the wrong angle and then while in MIDAIR, he body changes direction just so he can stop me; this is not the case in APF2K8, if you have a man beat you have him beat, and the only thing he can hope for is that he has enough foot speed to catch you.Another thing I used to hate on the "other" game is that when my defender had the perfect angle on a guy going towards the end zone and I will dive towards him clearly expecting at least some contact between my defender and the ball carrier only the have the game take over and cause my guy to dive in the complete opposite direction of the ball carrier.I can't tell you how frustrating that was!But that is no longer the case in this game, if you have an angle and time your hit right, you will at least make contact with the ball carrier getting him to go down is another story if you are dealing with the bruiser gold/silver/bronze star RB's.

Another thing I like about the game is that the halftime show shows actual video highlights from the game you are playing and the same is true for the post game show.While the commentators start getting repetitive after a while, its still good to go back and see the big plays of the game without having to rely on your saved replays all the time.Other things I like about the game are the stadium mascots that do various things after the home team makes a big play, if you are the Assassins and score a touch down, the giant hooded "assassin" at the end zone will perform a stabbing motion, if you are the Firebirds the bird will squawk and flap its wings, there is even one team that has two battle ships that shoot off its cannons! In addition to this the crowd always seems to be in the game, you make a big play they respond with ecstatic cheering, if you make a stupid play, then you will get booed....loudly.Another final thing I would like to mention is that if your XBOX is online while you are playing a game, you will get up to date sports tickers from the real world of sports.Even though it really does not add to the game you are playing its still a cool feature.It's nice always being in touch with the real sports world while I'm playing video games.

As much as I like the actual game, there are handful of flaws that are disappointing and one that is downright frustrating.First of all if you already didn't know, there is no franchise mode.So the team you create for offline play can only go through one season and that's it.No continuing to a next season, and no tracking career stats etc.The most you can do is take that same team though the same team again with a slightly different scheduled, or just create another team all together. In addition the Season mode itself is pretty limited.There is not even an ability to "watch" other games that your team is not playing in, and even more, you can only bring ONE of your created teams into season mode.This was a disappointment, especially for someone who primarily plays offline 99% of the time.I've tried online play before with other games, and if you have read my last reviews you will see that I am not a big fan of online play, playing people I don't know, most of who are cheesers, whiners and glitchers.The only time I will play someone online, is if I know them in real life.The lack of franchise mode bothered me, but not enough not to get this game.I have always heard 2K made the best football games, and if APF was anything like the NBA 2K series, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed in the game play.The other limitation is a big one, even bigger than the lack of franchise mode in many ways.You are only limited to creating 8 teams in the game, meaning that at any one time you only have 8 teams to choose from as you can't play with any of the CPU's teams.This is not a big problem in itself, because I would have expected some sort of limitation on the amount of teams you could create.However,...Read more›

NCAA Football 2007 Review

Graphics are good but not great, let alone awesome(play a game in the rain...waaay too choppy for next-gen graphics).Gameplay is ok, but not as smooth, consistent, and fun as past incarnations.It is also missing some options, features, and extras from past NCAA titles(but don't worry, i'm sure they'll offer these bit by bit as downloadable content in the future where you gotta fork over more money as apparently $60 off the rack isn't enough).I'm sure there are EA loyalists/apologists who think i'm a hater(it's true, i hate EA so much i've bought most of their NCAA football titles for the past decade or so including their first on the Sega Genesis way back when, and my favorite incarnation of them all: NCAA 2004 with coverboy Carson Palmer on the Gamecube!).

But anyway, is this a terrible game?Not really.if you can 'overlook' and 'forgive', it's good enough graphics and gameplay-wise.But if you used up all your 'look the other way/turn the other cheek' mentality with the also-disappointing(but better-looking at least) MADDEN 2006 on 360; then i STRONGLY recommend you rent this game first or read better and more detailed reviews on the game before buying it.I wish i had before i bought this game.Then at least my lowered expectations wouldn't have set me up for such a huge let-down.Recommended only as a rental or 'read reviews first before buying'.Seriously, after MADDEN 2006, i thought EA learned that next-gen games(at next-gen prices i might add), needed to have everything last-gen games had and more.With NCAA 2007, i guess not.Perhaps NCAA 2008 will be the game we're all hoping for.Hope MADDEN 2007 at least addresses all the concerns of its previous incarnation on 360.

Btw, can others tell me:
how do you change the camera angle?
how do you set up a demo game to watch cpu vs cpu?
where's the slick front end and in-between-game presentations?
why do the graphics sometimes slow down, seem choppy, etc?
how do you create-a-school?
where's the sports-illustrated covers?

Maybe many of these are unlockables or rewards for achievements-earned during gameplay and hopefully NOT extra-cost downloadables.But hey, the EA execs gotta eat don't they?But not to worry, NCAA 2007 will sell by the truckload cause the majority rules.And in this day and age, the majority says "we'll take hd graphics over features and gameplay anyday".The majority has spoken.

Hitman Contracts Review

(More customer reviews)I stopped playing this game after finishing the first two levels.I found the play slow and boring and occassionally odd.
The odd: You "sneak" directly in front of enemies and they don't see you -- even if you bump into them.
The slow: You need to "sneak" around a great bit and movement in that fashion is slow.
Boring: You can play it as a straight shoot/slash game, but, it isn't really made for that so it is not very good.As a sneaking game, you need to follow the games procedures (get the pipe, bring it here, blah blah blah) and just following its directions is pretty dull.If you try to do something different, it rates you poorly.For example, on one level I shot my target and one guard in the restroom.No alarm, no one else around, but, I think the game didn't like that because I didn't follow their procedures (I think I was supposed to dress as a waiter and bring the guy food).
Lastly, it allows a set # of saves per level (0-7, I think, depending on difficulty).SInce I like to play for short periods of time, I didn't like having to plan my saves that way.
All in all, I suggest you pass.

The game modes include:

Own the City (You create a guy and gain team members by playing pick up games.If you beat this mode, you can use your guy in NFL Challenge and in Madden 2006).

NFL Challenge (This is like how the first game was.You have 150 days to make your team the best it can be by getting ability points from completing challenges.You can also add real NFL players on your team.You can use your created team online to battle other peoples online teams.Also, I think you earn points to make your players better if you win online).

NFL Gauntlet (You pick a NFL team and battle all the other NFL teams.I'm sure you unlock things as you go through each team).

Pickup Game (This is the old game where you pick players from NFL teams and have an exhibition match with the CPU or with some friends).

Street Events (These are mini games which you can play with the CPU or with friends.Some include include:

Crush the Carrier [You grab the ball and get as much points as you can get until you get tackled and the ball goes up for grabs.Whoever has the most points at the end of time limit wins]

A "500" type game [CPUs throw passes awhile a group of people try to catch the balls.Whoever has the most points at the end of the time limit wins].

Open Field Showdown [You go one-on-one against a CPU or player in a field from like the 20 or 25 yard line.You try to fake-out your opponent andscore a touchdown].

There are also many other mini games available but they are like playing a normal pickup game.

New to this game is wall jumps.You can go by the wall and do a wall jump, wall juke, wall pass, or wall catch to get rid of the defense and get those extra yards.Also if you do a wall move on a poster, you get extra points and your gamebreaker meter (the ability to get your guy powered up to make a huge play) will fill up by about a third.

This game has endless possibilities.You can create a guy, create a team, play a lot of people online, play against a friend or against friends, and a lot more.This football game is a break from traditional football games like Madden 2005.Madden is still a great game but its cool in this game because you can jump off the walls and just break free from all the rules and slow-paced action of traditional football games (Madden 2005, ESPN 2K5).This game reminds me a lot of the Blitz series.I would say this is the best football game out there now.And if it was between NFL Street 2 and NBA Street V3, I would say this game.This is probably one of the top ten games out there.

Also,this game has a great soundtrack featuring a lot of rap/hip-hop and punk/rock/alternative.This is not one boring song on the soundtrack and since there are a lot of songs, it doesn't get repetitive.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance Review

(More customer reviews)I rented this game and a few days later bought it. This is nearly a perfect Mortal Kombat game. I had lost interest in MK after it's many sequels and same ol, same ol. A new fighting system, weaponry and multiple fighting styles make this not only a challenge to master but a lot of fun as well. Plenty of Gore and Blood and plenty of moves where you have no choice but to say "that HAD to hurt". You have to love impaling your opponent.
Graphics and sound are top notch and the added Konquest mode and the Krypt add a new level to this game the previous titles didn't have.Konquest mode to unlock Blaze and Mokap can be cruelly frustrating, just TRY and do Raiden's Chain Lightning Branch Style Combo, i've been at it for two days now. They couldn't have made Konquest mode just a "tad" easier. certain characters in Konquest mode are far easier than others.Sometimes i could swear there's a glitch where you do the combo right but the game insists you didn't, and as other times you do it by mashing buttons as fast as you can and it decides to let you have it. The old favorites are back with some great new characters as well. It's a interesting concept mixing a fighting game with Kurrency to unlock hidden characters, arenas and alternate costumes to name a few. I've been playing it non stop since i got it. The only problems i can find with this game are the "cheese" factor of Moloch and certain moves or combinations of moves that a human player wouldn't be able to pull off, but the AI pulls off flawlessly, like blocking and attacking at the same time as well as perfectly timed reversals into a 15 hit Branch Style Combo that goes through all three fighting styles LOL.The rounded directional pad makes some of the moves harder to pull off than on say a playstation controller and that can get annoying at times, hitting down back to perform a "special move" only to jump in the air unintentionaly. The range of difficulty should have been spread out a little more as well, you go from your first fighting being a flawless victory in every round,to your third and fourth giving you a seriously AI sided fight.Staring at the screen going what the heck happened, i guess i blinked. I would have liked to have seen more than ONE fatality per character and maybe even a few arena fatalities as well. Some of the Branch Style Kombos seem next to impossible to pull off and having to do them to beat Konquest mode to unlock even more characters is frustrating, although die hard MK fans wll surely have no problems LOL. It's a great game and i can't wait to see the sequel. Plenty of morbid entertainment for your dollars.From what i've herd and seen the Xbox version is the BEST version of this game on a console. If you have an Xbox definetly pick this up or rent it. One final thing, Midway would have been smart to make this game Xbox LIVE compatible so you could play with other people online in VS mode, that would have been most excellent.

Medal of Honor Frontline Review

I played Medal of Honor: Allied Assault on the PC and absolutely loved the game.It was my favorite FPS (first-person shooter) hands-down and probably my favorite computer game of all time.I was thrilled to see that with the exception of the D-Day Normandy level, Frontline was completely different than Allied Assault.I was not thrilled to see that the graphics in Frontline paled in comparison to Allied Assault.Enemies and textures are much more animated, almost cartoonish on the Xbox, and given what I had seen in Splinter Cell and Halo, this was a letdown.I know the Xbox has better graphics capabilities than this. Walk through a bush in Frontline and you get a "pixelized" graphic that looks like it was created in Paint, not by a professional graphics artist.
In Frontline, the only time you can save is before and after each level.There are appropriately placed health packs, but they won't help you if you run in to a tank or enemy with a rocket launcher. I found that many times, you had to run in to an ambush and die to understand strategically how to get past it the next time. This wouldn't be as frustrating if you had even one save per level. Believe me, at least once you'll get 95% through a level only to die and have to restart.And you'll probably take your frustration out on the controller. I just feel that this is a poor way to make the game longer and/or more challenging.
There are faults with the AI that I didn't see in Allied Assault or among the better games on the Xbox.Case in point: open a door and two enemies are waiting, if one sees you, you can cap him and the second one won't even react.Huh??There was another time when I couldn't shoot a sniper because I was too far away from him.If I can see him in my scope, he should take damage regardless.
Having said the negative points, I'd like to offer some positives.The sound in this game is better than any other Xbox game I've played. The sound effects are excellent, and there is also some movie-quality, heroic music that plays during key points of the game. The levels are very diverse and well thought out.I like how you can scope any weapon to get a slightly better view of your enemy, but if you do so, you can't move.I felt like a true soldier in this sense. The controls are natural and enjoyable.I love the scoping of the sniper rifle.
If you can accept the shortcomings, Frontline can be an okay experience.I think those who haven't played Allied Assault on the PC would enjoy the game more.If you have, just don't expect it to be nearly as mind-blowing as Allied Assault.

Halo 2 Review

(More customer reviews)Halo 2 is an excellent game, there's no doubt in that. The core of the game still remains the same as the original, making it almost impossible to take a step backwards. The thing to think about here is how have the changes and improvements affected this game over its predecessor.

For campaign mode the story is not quite as captivating as the original. In addition you need to have it on Heroic for any type of challenge. And, as many other reviews have said, the game is simply much shorter than the previous (the cut scenes graphically were a little dissapointing too). However, the game is really entertaining. The maps are much more detailed, there's more variance in the layout between checkpoints. They did a pretty good job in making the layout not as repetitive. Plus the scenery is pretty interactive and makes you do a lot more cool stuff to accomplish a mission.

Weapons as well have changed a lot. They have increased the types of weapons, as well as improving ones that used to suck (the needler) and taking away some power from the pistol. The much talked about dual weilding is defiantly a nice advantage. It takes a little getting used to know how to use it best and the best combinations of weapons. Although people have complained about the fact you can't throw grenades while using it, it's more realistic (you do only have two hands). So they've made it a powerful tool, but they didn't want it to be unstoppable. Basically it seems like they've leveled the playing field more and although you may be disappointed because something isn't as dominate as before or than you thought it would be, ultimately it's for the better.

Same thing goes for vehicles: you have more to choose from, with different advantages, but they also made each a little more vulnerable and less unstoppable (the rocket launcher lock helps tremendously from the last game).

The multiplayer part of course is amazing. Looking past some minor faults (not all maps are good, the energy sword is too dominate here, etc.) this part really makes the game a cut above anything else.

The limited edition version here only really provides an extra DVD with the making of (which is interesting but not really necessary... you could easily have a friend tell you the stuff on there that's worth knowing). Besides that and the metal case, it's the same. It's really up to you weather $10-15 bucks difference is that big of a deal for you, cause it's not that big of a difference.

Bottom line: Halo 2 is a great game. It's definitely a lot of fun and very enjoyable. It's a little disappointing because the original Halo was such a huge difference from anything out there and I think everyone was expecting Halo 2 to do the same. Unfortunately, it didn't make any drastic leaps that leave you stunned, but maybe (besides living up to the hype) it didn't really need to be. What it did do was make a lot of tweaks, to try and improve on something that was already incredible. You have to praise Bungie for trying their best to please everyone. In the end the hype may have been too much, but don't let it deter you from enjoying this great game.

Madden NFL 07 Review

(More customer reviews)There's a lot of different opinions of Madden NFL 07 swirling around so I figured I get in on it as well. For my money, to just have a new football game is worth it. Seeing as how Madden is now the only football game available from year to year, if you don't like Madden's brand of video games then I feel so sorry for you. However, I think this is a great installment. By no means is this the best released but there's no doubt that it's a lot of fun.

Have Madden 06? You basically have 07. Not a lot has changed from last year. The few things are the running options (juking and whatnot) being moved to the right joystick, the 50 yard dash on the training camp, and the new camera angle for your Superstar linebacker. Also, while I've only played a quarter of an exhibition game and a lot of Superstar games, I still have yet to hear John Madden. I don't know if he's not on this game or not, but if he isn't that just makes no sense.

Yeah, that's my only big complaint. I can't help but love this game though. Perfect Dark Zero Review

(More customer reviews)Perfect Dark Zero is one of my favorite release titles for the XBox 360. The graphics are gorgeous, the main character (female!) has personality, and it's a good combo of shooting, stealth and puzzle solving.

We've been of course testing all of the release titles, but we keep coming back to Perfect Dark Zero just for sheer fun of gameplay.

First, the basic mission tree. You are Joanna Dark, daughter of a bounty hunter who follows in her father's footsteps. You're athletic, nimble, smart, and maybe a bit fool-hardy. The game is set in the future (Joanna was born in the year 2000) and you get an interesting mix of locales to explore as you take on your assignments.

The graphics in this game are simply GORGEOUS, as you might expect from the XBox 360. I highly recommend you play this on a HD TV - I've done screenshots comparing HD to low-def and the difference is rather impressive. The water ripples, the light plays off the rippling water, the rippling water reflects on the textured brick wall, you name it. You get red and blue lights shining down from the ceiling and the lights color their surroundings and even combine where they cross.

There are of course some amusing issues - this still isn't photo-realism of course. There are times that a red laser beam has slight "ripples" in it, for example. Still, the quality is far better than anything else on the market.

I suppose you could complain that Joanna goes running around in high-heeled boots and low-cut pants, but heck, I was impressed that her chest size was reasonably normal. Compared to most other video games out there, with their mostly-naked women with inflato-boobs, Joanna is quite demure!

The sound is aiming for a James Bond feel here. I think that is pretty clear from the intro credits. You get a boppy rock soundtrack through much of the game. The dialogue is reasonably well done, and you can't really say much about how gunshots sound. They sound like gunshots.

Gameplay is a mix between Splinter Cell and a FPS. There are times that being stealthy and quiet really pay off. There are other times that just running fast and blasting away will work. There are cool lockpick puzzles, too. I do get frustrated that you can't "jump" though. I'll see a nice, inviting open window at less than waist high, and I have to walk right by.

I have mixed feelings about co-op mode. On one hand it's fun to have two females working side by side and taking out the enemy. On the other hand, if one person decides to quit, it shuts down the whole mission. I really like it on other games where a person can pop in and out as necessary. This especially is helpful if a less experienced gamer is stuck and needs help just for a short while.

There's also deathmatch style gaming available, both on local gameplay and XBox Live. This lets you sneak around and head-shot your enemies with great glee.

We've played this for many hours and haven't noticed any problems with lag or crashing. There are certain moves that don't happen instantly - for example, when you shoot from cover, you have to wait for Joanna to "rise from a crouch" before she fires. This is quite realistic. The game also has cinematic sequences when things go into a Matrix-like slo-mo which seems to be in many current movies.

If you play this game on easy mode, you can probably zip through all the missions in a single very long gaming session (say 14-16 hours). The harder levels of difficulty are of course more challenging. Really, though, all single-player gameplay is is just a training mode to help you prepare for live gameplay. Once you've gotten your skills sharpened on the computer players, prepare to take on the real challenge, with real live opponents!

Hitman Blood Money Review

(More customer reviews)Although this is my first game in the Hitman series, I absolutely love stealth games like the Splinter Cell series. I have completed Hitman: Blood Money at all levels of difficulty and earned every Xbox 360 Achievement in the game.

If you're looking for a fun, vast and playable game, just stop right now and purchase Hitman: Blood Money. The game is so incredible in the amount of variety it offers (both in unique and interesting levels, as well as new and exciting ways to take people out) it could have almost been split up into two titles and still be worth the price. I don't want to provide any level-specific spoilers at all, but let me just say if you completely finish this game without finding one level you absolutely loved, you simply don't like this entire genre of gaming!

Although this game has absolutely no multiplayer component, I could easily see a group of people gathered around the TV with pizza and beer as you take turns trying to accomplish the best or wildest "hit."

The controls in this game are sometimes difficult. Overall, you spend most of your time picking a weapon, then using it. However, when you have to make accident kills, specifically throwing someone over the side of a building, boat railing or cliff, you'll find that it doesn't always work. This is particularly true at the higher levels, where making these accidents happen is essential for earning the coveted "Silent Assassin" rating.

Speaking of which -and mostly specific to the Xbox 360 version- the achievements for this game are somewhat ambiguous. One example is that the requirements for earning a Silent Assassin rating on the "Pro" level is different than earning it on the lower difficulty levels, but you're never informed of the differences, or how to achieve it in the first place. Likewise, the "Special Rating" achievement is only really possible to earn by accident, or after researching how to do so on the game forums. All of this is troubling, since the point of the game is to become the ultimate hitman. And when they won't tell you how to do so, you'll feel a little cheated.

Obviously, there are some adult themes in this game. In addition to the gratuitous (but fun!) violence, there are also numerous sexual scenarios. There isn't a lot of foul language (at least that I noticed, but I'm also pretty liberal on that), but parents should certainly review this title closely before purchasing it for a minor.

All said, this game easily earns a 5-star rating for the replayability, level design and massive options for interesting deaths. The only problems with this game (which lowered my "overall rating" by one star) are the sometimes troubling controls and the lack of information on how to "do your best" as a hitman. However, the casual gamer won't care about these inadequacies and the hardcore gamers will find ways around them. After all, an adaptable hitman is a good hitman!

Mortal Kombat Deception Review

(More customer reviews)If you're a fan of the Mortal Kombat series, or fighting games in general, get ready. This mature title has got puzzles, RPG, chess, and yes, lots of bloody Kombat!

The traditional aspects of Mortal Kombat are here. You have different characters to choose from. Different styles of fighting. Key combinations create gorgeous attack moves. You earn coins as you go, to spend on unlocking new characters, levels, and other secrets.

The graphics here are simply gorgeous. The floors and walls have textures from shiny and reflective to grainy matte. The glow of fire, misty mountains and glowing lights are quite impressive. Characters have robes that flow with the action and accessories that sway realistically. If you want to be gory, the blood even flows down your body.

On the other hand, in Dead or Alive the environments are amazingly reactive - fighting in a snowy area leaves tracks in the snow, and autumn leaves blow past you in the forest. In comparison, Mortal Kombat has a desert island fight seem like the ground is made of concrete. So there is still room for improvement.

Body movements are equally as well done. Gone are the days of blocky characters with jerky attacks. You can really feel like you're in a martial arts movie here, with the super smooth blocks and combo kicks. This is great for the audience the game is intended for (mature) - but means that youngsters can easily get upset by some of the very realistic back-breaking moves. There's a reason this game earned that mature rating.

Even the sub-games are so good that they could easily qualify as standalone packages. The Puzzle Kombat is in essence tetris with fighting animations for when you do well. Chess Kombat is chess with little mortal kombat pieces. You can play both of these on XBox Live too! There's also a Konquest Adventure where you wander around talking to characters and taking on quests.

Highly recommended for mature fighting game fans, and with all of the things to unlock you have great incentive to play for weeks and weeks to see everything.

(More customer reviews)I would agree with other reviewerd that the pc-based game is far better.But I'm just here to give a review on the X-box game, I'll try to be objective.

The game has some of the same feel and style as the Medal of Honor games I have on X-box.The missions are challenging in some areas and fun.Here are some things I liked about it:

1) Commanding your squad:An icon appears when you get close to your comrades in certain situations that is a symbol of them running, when hitting the black button, this tells your comrade to advance in the forward direction of the enemy.I found this to be a great addition to the game as you're able to have some help and use some strategy, like when storming the hill's and assaulting the trenches on your way to take out some pillbox's and bunkers early in the game.It's also a GREAT feature to have when inside a warehouse or abandoned home, in that you can open the door and/or have your team move ahead of you to take out the initial front of attack.

The A.I. on your comrades is better than seen in any other game of thie genre to date. (as far as WWII games go, I've heard some Desert Storm games have excellent Squad and Platoon directive features)They don't get in your way all of the time, and they don't do the standard 2-shots (both missing) cover fire then hide behind something.The comrades that accompany you in your missions actually ATTACK the enemy with ferocious force and do inflict damage to them, so when you come to a clearing they are not dancing around like idiots as you find yourself having to take on every Nazi in the land single handedly.There was a moment on the hill below the pill-box's where I thought I had lost my squad, but when I turned around, they were behind me returning fire to a Nazi who was trying to take me out from a hidden position!

2)Cinematic:The game has a good backdrop of Stalingrad and other famous battles and such, but does not quite seem to capture the overall WWII feel as much as MOH games.It's still very good, and my opinion will differ from others of course.There is a lot of street fighting as well as being out in the dirt and trenches dodging machine gun fire and mortars.

3)Weapons:This game is excellent in this department.You have the ability to pick up any weapon that a Nazi has dropped after they are taken out.

4)Versatility:I found the level where your in the second story of the warehouse a bit needless.I'm not saying these things didn't happen, but it get's kind of old hat when your in the second story of a large building trying to be a sniper on various infantrymen that are in the town.I find it much more productive if your down on ground level fighting them.But at the same time it's probably more realistic story-line wise to have something like this, which reminds me of the movie "Enemy at the Gates".

5) Lighting and Contrast:I know in war you find yourself fighting at all hours of the day or night, but it seems like in many scenes, even in daytime, that it is to dark.Many shadows abound from nowhere and you often find yourself saved only because you fired at a muzzle flash in the background.

6) Overall the game is a blast, but if you've played medal of honor Frontline and Rising Sun, it starts to become old hat.I have played this game on PC and it is a bit more intense and pure on the PC.If you liked the MOH series and want a new wargame on X-box, try this out!
